On Saturday we travelled from Kailua over to Volcano Village. Along the way we stopped at Punalu'u Bakery, the southernmost bakery in the United States; it's just north of the southernmost bar in the United States.Once we got settled in at the Lodge we drove into the National Park and got our first look at Kilauea.
The Keens do very well here...
This
is a closer shot of Halema'uma'u crater. In Mark Twain's time it was a sea of lava, but by 1924 it had crusted over and drained away.
